New handmade shoes!

Shoes in a jewelry store??

Our mission is to educate our customers about the beauty and value of objects made by hand. Our friend Rabiah Hodges owns Chameleon Clogs in Kill Devil Hills, NC. We met at ECU in the 1990s, where Rabiah earned her degree in weaving and textile design. She now fabricates woven uppers for her wooden-sole clogs, as well as producing clogs with leather, cowhide, and patent leather uppers. Some of her shoes have handpainted soles… some tie with a fanciful ribbon… all are unique and made just for you. We will display a few pairs of these fabulous shoes in anticipation of Rabiah’s trunk show during the Brentwood Open House this August. In the meantime, come on by and check them out!

A variety of styles and sizes available. Ask Julia about her specially made red patent leather clogs!

The joys of moving!

We’re a few weeks into our new store and one of the things involved in moving to a new location is re-working EVERY piece of paper in the store to show the new address.  Biz cards, invoices, receipts, postcards, repair tickets, gift certificates,  and the list goes on and on….

We handcraft more than just jewelry in our shop!  We do all our graphic design right in the store.  I photograph the jewelry myself and then design ads based on the format required.  B&W for the newspaper, glossy photo layouts for magazines, and even our website.  This is another way we save a lot of costs that we don’t have to pass along to YOU.  Here’s an example of one of our latest ads that will be running in the Wilson Daily Times.

JNJ in house advertising, featuring Julia's Crescent Moon pendant in silver with blue topaz and carved man in the moon. Silver looks great in black and white.

Wow, what a week!

Well, we’ve just finished our second week of being open, or maybe I should say “re-opened”.  The response to new new store interior and location has been VERY positive.  Thanks to everyone that has helped us and been patient during the move.  Everyday we have been putting out more new jewelry and adding to the new decor.

We have even added in a few new North Carolina jewelry designer-craftsmen!  We now carry Ben Dyer -specializing in exquisite hand forged gold jewelry, Susan Panciera -crafting forged silver jewelry, and LEA Designs -mixing hand-blown glass and silver.  We are proud to support other jewelers hand making their own jewelry, in their own shops, with few or no employees, except themselves.  These products are made by the owners, so you know the quality is top-notch!

Ben Dyer earrings- The finest quality workmanship and we love the "J" shape on these for obvious reasons!
